An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Acute Learning Disability and Autism Liaison Nurse, working with children and adults accessing acute care.
Main duties of the job:
- This post has been developed to increase access and reduce health inequalities for people with learning disabilities and/or who are on the autism spectrum.
- Act as a resource for the acute hospital regarding the complex health needs of people with a learning disability and/or on the autism spectrum.
- Manage the interface between mainstream general hospital services, primary care services and community specialist disability services.
- Support children and adults with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism as inpatients, outpatient appointments and emergency attendances.
- Develop effective and collaborative working with healthcare and multi-agency colleagues, including identifying and meeting the training needs and providing specialist and nursing advice.
- Incorporate the philosophy outlined in 'Valuing People', working closely with the Equality and Diversity, Inclusion lead.
- Work in adherence with the Mental Capacity Act 2005, advising other staff on its correct application.
