RCHT & Bodmin Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) imaging is looking for a motivated and dynamic Radiographer with specialist experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) with good communication skills and a highly developed sense of patient care to join our friendly and progressive team. The MRI department currently has 4 Philips 1.5T MRI scanners with a service delivered at the Bodmin CDC since June 2024. The department takes student radiographers from Exeter and Plymouth University and is a training site for Radiologists. We also have Assistant Practitioners, Advanced Practitioners including Reporting Radiographers, and Consultant Radiographers in post and are committed to developing the knowledge and skills of our workforce.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of cross-sectional imaging (CSI) examinations/scans within MRI.
- Work with the MRI Team Leader and Advanced Practitioner Radiographers to ensure the efficient and cost effective delivery of the MRI service.
- Work as part of a team providing a 13 hour / 7 day service. The MRI department operates from 7:30-20:30 and the shifts are aligned to these hours.
- Act as shift co-ordinator in the absence of the MRI Team Leader, taking responsibility for the operation of the MRI department, including prioritising the workload, managing workflow and staff resources to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
- Make operational management decisions out of hours in the absence of the Team Leader and Advanced Practitioners in MRI.
- Work with the Team Leader and Advanced Practitioner Radiographers to continually improve the MRI service.
- Justify radiology referrals (within scope of practice) using referral criteria which falls within the Royal College of Radiologists Guidelines and the Clinical Imaging Protocol Manual.
- To comply with the MHRA Safety Guidelines for Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
- Participate in CPD and audit activities as part of the department’s development and knowledge sharing.

- Specialist experience in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
- Good communication skills and a patient-focused approach.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to participate in a 13 hour / 7 day service.
- Awareness of governance, safety guidelines and clinical imaging protocols.
