Responsibilities

  • To provide advanced level specialist assessment, treatment and education of patients.
  • To determine clinical diagnosis and orthopaedic management/treatment indicated, and to maintain records as an autonomous practitioner.
  • To work independently and alongside the orthopaedic shoulder consultants in clinic in an extended role listing for surgery, requesting investigations, and any further management.
  • To act as an independent practitioner demonstrating advanced knowledge and skills within musculoskeletal therapy with a specific specialism in the field of shoulder conditions.
  • This includes the integration of research evidence into practice via the process of advanced clinical reasoning and decision making.
  • To use this knowledge to provide an advisory service to patients, physiotherapists and other healthcare professionals, GPs and consultants.
  • To attend service level discussions/meetings relating to your area of work independently and as delegated by the relevant Senior Operational Manager.
  • To support research and to contribute to the future development of the service.
  • To contribute to the establishment of protocols, guidance and patient information for the development of the service.
