RCH is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and hardworking individual to join the porters team. The role requires flexibility to accommodate the needs of the service, strong communication skills, and a positive, professional attitude.
The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust (RCHT) is the main provider of acute and specialist care services in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. It serves a population of around 470,000 people, including visitors during peak times. RCHT employs approximately 6,700 staff and manages about 740 million pounds in budget across three main sites and a teaching partnership with the University of Exeter, University of Plymouth, and Peninsula Dental School.
Main Duties
- To provide and maintain a professional, efficient, effective and timely service to patients, visitors and other departments that will contribute to achieving high quality patient care.
- To ensure the service supports the clinical care of patients and respects the privacy and dignity of every patient.
- To ensure the health and safety of both the recipients and of those delivering the service.
- To contribute towards the development of best practice within the department and to the training of new starters and inexperienced staff.
- To assist the Porter Management Team in the development of the service.
- To provide a portering service to the whole of Royal Cornwall Hospital and, where required, to other sites.
- Due to the service being at times unpredictable, flexibility and a reactive approach are essential.
Qualifications and Experience
- Good level of education
- Knowledge of Medical Gases and First Aid certification
- Customer service/care experience
- Ability to carry out instructions
- Ability to work independently and with a team
- Must successfully pass identity and professional registration checks, employment history and reference checks, occupational health clearance, a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check, and confirm right to work in the UK.
