To assist with the work of the Standards Committee; to provide advice to veterinary surgeons, veterinary nurses and members of the public; to assist with the work of the Sub Committees reporting to Standards Committee; and to assist with reviews of complaints, as necessary., Standards Committee and Advice

  • Assist the Standards and Advice Lead and Head of Legal Services (Standards) with the work of the Standards Committee including writing papers.

  • Draft changes to the Code of Professional Conduct and Supporting Guidance.

  • Assist with formulation of RCVS advice on specific issues.

  • Assist with the work of the Sub Committees reporting to Standards Committee, including the Certification, Recognised Veterinary Practice and Riding Establishments Sub Committees, and the Ethics Review Panel.

  • Provide advice on professional conduct issues, specifically those arising from the Code of Professional Conduct and its Supporting Guidance; by telephone or in writing (including e-mail).

  • Assist with projects and working parties reporting to the Standards Committee.

  • Undertake other duties within the department and College, as requested.

Development of Best Practice

  • To consider with the Standards and Advice Lead, the development of standards, including auditing, to ensure best practice is adopted.

  • Managing projects or assisting the Standards and Advice Lead to manage projects relating to the development of the standards and advice protocols, including manuals, protocols and practice directions.

  • Assist the Standards and Advice Lead with in-house training both within the Professional Conduct Department and throughout the RCVS.

Administration

  • To assist in the preparation of the agendas and papers for the Standards Committee.

  • To assist generally with the work of the Standards Committee and the registration and analysis of advice files., The ideal candidate will have experience of working for a regulatory authority and supporting the work of committees.
