The Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) is the professional membership body for over 55,000 GPs across the UK and internationally, making us the largest of the medical royal colleges. It is also a charity driven by the mission to encourage, foster and maintain the highest possible standards in general medical practice. As a modern, forward-thinking organisation, we champion excellence in primary care and promote the highest standards of healthcare for patients and communities.

With general practice at the heart of the NHS, and amid ongoing reform across health systems, the College has a vital opportunity to strengthen its voice, shape national and devolved policy, and support GPs through change with relevance and authority.

We are now seeking a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the College into its next chapter. Working closely with the Chair of Council and Chair of Trustees, the CEO is responsible for the effective delivery of our strategic and operational objectives, financial sustainability, and the leadership of a high-performing team. The CEO will be pivotal in building a culture that readily welcomes agility and innovation, requiring someone adept at working across communities and with the dual yet equally important dispositions of the College: as both a charity and a membership organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for a visible, values-led and politically astute leader to guide an organisation with deep purpose and national reach. The ideal candidate will bring experience of leading and innovating in complex organisations, a strong commitment to stakeholder engagement, and the ability to unite people behind a clear vision. If you are inspired by the chance to shape the future of general practice and support a profession that underpins the entire healthcare system, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Applications should be received by noon on 16th June.
