Visitor Experience Assistant – Royal Collection Trust
The Royal Collection Trust is inviting applications for the Visitor Experience Assistant role at Windsor Castle, offering a unique opportunity to explore the world’s oldest and largest inhabited castle.
Pay Range
Competitive pay of £13.45 per hour (actual pay will be based on skills and experience, discussed with the recruiter).
About the Role
Windsor Castle welcomes visitors all year round. As a Visitor Experience Assistant you will play a key role in bringing history to life and ensuring every guest has a memorable visit. Assistants are grouped into three key areas: Visitor Services, Admissions and Retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Admissions Assistant: First point of contact for visitors – guide them through bookings, provide information about the Castle and ensure they have everything they need.
- Process ticket sales efficiently at ticket counters.
- Use online systems to manage bookings and provide accurate visitor information.
- Upsell items such as souvenir guides, tours or charitable donations where appropriate.
- Support the security search process, creating a safe environment for visitors and staff.
- Retail Assistant: Deliver a seamless shopping experience across shops and sales points.
- Greet customers and provide knowledgeable advice on products.
- Help the team reach sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service.
- Replenish stock and maintain visual displays.
- Visitor Services: Operate along the visitor route, indoor and outdoor.
- Welcome visitors, answer questions and provide information about Windsor Castle’s history.
- Ensure safety and security of visitors and the site.
- Monitor visitor flow, support access requirements and distribute audio guides.
Contract Options and Hours
- Contracts run from May or June 2026 to 27 September 2026 (dependent on role). Candidates must be available for the entire period.
- Full‑time contracts: minimum 28–30 hours per week over 5 days. Limited part‑time contracts are also available.
- Both contract types include weekend shifts and occasional evening work.
