ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and manage the Legal Department’s support of our Sales, Trade, and Marketing functions across international markets—including the UK, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and LACR—by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide array of agreements, and collaborating closely with business clients on various projects and transactions.
  • Provide legal counsel on business-to-consumer (B2C) matters, including consumer rights, transparency obligations, with a focus on ensuring compliance with EU and UK consumer protection laws across all direct-to-consumer sales and marketing channels.
  • Provide legal guidance on marketing initiatives, including advertising, promotions, digital campaigns, and brand communications, ensuring compliance with applicable consumer protection laws and advertising standards in the EU and UK (e.g., UK CAP Code, Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, GDPR).
  • Oversee, manage, draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex agreements including travel agency agreements, group sales and charter agreements, vendor agreements, consulting agreements, services agreements, and marketing-related contracts.
  • Advise on legal and regulatory matters applicable to international sales and marketing activities, including cross-border consumer engagement, data usage in marketing, and transparency in promotional practices.
  • Manage legal matters pertaining to travel agents and travel agencies across various international markets, including terms and conditions and interpretations of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Oversee, manage, update, review, and interpret issues pertaining to international passenger ticket contracts and related policies of all cruise brands.
  • Proactively manage legal risk across sales and marketing operations, and develop best practices and compliance guidelines for these aspects of our business.
  • Collaborate closely with trade support, marketing, revenue management, tax, guest services, and HR teams in UK, EMEA, APAC, and ANZ offices, as well as in our Miami Head Office.
  • Monitor relevant travel industry and marketing regulatory developments, and undertake ad-hoc legal research projects for management while working to a deadline.
  • Develop a precedent bank and implement a legal training manual for Trade and Marketing Support teams, while providing mentoring to two Assistant Counsel reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • UK or EU qualified lawyer with strong academic background and minimum 7 years PQE.
  • Relevant in-house or law firm experience is preferred.
  • Comparative commercial law and Travel Industry knowledge is essential.
