The Role

We are looking for a technically proficient and data-driven optimization specialist to support voyage efficiency and optimization across our global fleet. In this role, you will analyze how ships operate at sea and identify opportunities to improve fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. You will work closely with marine operations, planning teams, and digital experts to turn insights into practical actions that improve performance.

  • Analyze voyage and operational data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities to improve fuel and energy performance.
  • Support root-cause analysis of performance deviations and translate findings into practical, actionable recommendations.
  • Support voyage optimization activities, including route selection, speed management, and energy-efficient operating practices, while considering safety and operational constraints.
  • Collaborate with shipboard and shoreside teams to validate insights and ensure recommendations are practical and aligned with real-world operations.
  • Provide data-driven insights to support planning and deployment decisions, including assessing trade-offs between operational, commercial, and energy efficiency priorities.
  • Support scenario analyses comparing different itineraries and operating assumptions, and summarize findings to support decision-making.
  • Identify trends and opportunities driven by factors such as fuel costs, environmental constraints, and operating conditions.
  • Support regular performance review cycles and contribute to follow-up actions and continuous improvement across the fleet.
  • Capture learnings from high-performing vessels and support sharing of best practices across ships and teams.
  • Engage with operational stakeholders to understand drivers behind performance and ensure analysis reflects real-world conditions.

Digital & Analytics

  • Work with digital tools, dashboards, and analytics platforms to monitor voyage performance and generate insights.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of KPIs, reporting tools, and data visualizations, including those supporting ISO 50001 performance tracking.
  • Support data quality and consistency by identifying discrepancies (e.g., fuel consumption, voyage data) and coordinating resolution with relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to scenario analysis, performance insights, and dashboard enhancements that support operational and planning decisions.
  • Help maintain feedback loops between ship and shore teams by identifying data gaps, usability improvements, and training needs.
  • Leverage advanced analytical approaches; experience or interest in AI/ML-based optimization is a strong plus.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Stay informed on relevant energy efficiency and emissions frameworks (e.g., SEEMP, CII, EU ETS, FuelEU Maritime).
  • Support monitoring of voyage-related KPIs to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements and internal targets.
  • Help translate regulatory developments into practical operational considerations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nautical Sciences, Maritime logistics, Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in voyage performance analysis, marine operations, voyage/routing optimization, or a related maritime optimization role; preferably within the cruise liner industry.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools; ability to interrogate large operational datasets and generate relevant analytics and clear insights.
  • Understanding of voyage planning and optimization, speed management, trim optimization, weather routing, and operational constraints on large passenger vessels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to conduct root-cause analyses and propose practical, safety-aware recommendations.
  • Effective communicator able to partner with shipboard teams and translate technical outputs into operational guidance.

Success Profile

  • Data-driven operator: Delivers reliable voyage performance insights, with strong attention to data quality and actionable recommendations. Ability to integrate AI driven analytics into our processes is desirable.
  • Operationally grounded: Understands nautical constraints and builds trust with Fleet Captains through practical, safety-first guidance.
  • Continuous improver: Uses feedback to strengthen tools, dashboards, and playbooks that scale across the fleet.
  • Collaborative partner: Works effectively across Marine Ops, deployment, and Digital/IT to land improvements and verify value.
  • Industry Exposure: Previous relevant experience within the cruise liner industry is desirable.
