Position Overview
The Associate Vice President (AVP), Marine Technical Procurement is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing the global procurement of marine technical equipment, parts, and services. This strategic position involves leading a diverse team of procurement professionals, collaborating closely with our Global Marine Operations (GMO), New‑building and Finance functions. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of the maritime industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to lead a team of procurement professionals.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high‑performing global Marine Technical Procurement team.
- Formulate and execute procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize procurement processes, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
- Work closely with GMO, New‑building and Refurbishment to understand technical requirements and operational priorities.
- Act as a key point of contact for technical procurement needs, ensuring timely and efficient sourcing of marine equipment and spare parts.
- Oversee the end‑to‑end procurement process for marine technical assets and services, including sourcing, negotiation, contracting, and supplier performance management.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers and vendors to ensure quality, reliability, and best in class pricing.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with international maritime regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Manage the procurement budget and ensure cost‑control measures are in place.
- Establish KPIs and metrics to monitor team performance and procurement effectiveness.
- Stay abreast of industry developments, emerging technologies, and sustainable practices in marine procurement.
- Promote the adoption of digital tools and data analytics to enhance procurement decision‑making.
Knowledge & Qualifications
- Bachelor\’s degree in Marine Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Extensive experience (typically 15+ years) in marine technical procurement, supply chain management, New‑buildings or related roles, with demonstrated leadership of global teams.
- Strong understanding of marine industry standards, regulations, and technical specifications.
- Proven track record in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and cost optimization.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, strong negotiation- and communication skills.
- Ability to lead cross‑cultural and remote teams effectively.
- Proficiency with procurement software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.
