We have a newly created opportunity for a Head of Private Office to join the team here at RBL and be responsible for managing an efficient Private Office to enable our executive leadership team to successfully lead our charity.
This exciting new position will see you leading our Private Office, acting as the principal point of contact and executive support for our Director General, National President, National Chair, and National Vice Chair.
You will manage significant internal and external relationships, including business-critical relationships with external partners such as the Royal Household, Lord Lieutenancies, Ministry of Defence, other Government departments, charities, and high-profile policy and decision-makers.
Working in close partnership with our Chief of Staff and Head of Governance, this role will report to our Director General. Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing and coordinating diaries, commissioning and writing briefings, presentations, and speaking notes, and ensuring there is a coherent information flow between the Private Office and all areas of the organisation.
- Ensuring good management of correspondence by drafting and commissioning responses to enquiries from a range of stakeholders that reflect the organisation’s position and values as well as the preferred tone, style, and format of the Director General and the National Officers.
- Working in close collaboration with colleagues in the Communications team to ensure that briefings, speaking notes, and a range of other communications drafted in the PO are congruent with wider RBL messaging and communications.
- Coordinating a team of Personal Assistants who report to Executive Directors, ensuring senior leaders benefit from high-quality administrative support.
- Managing budgets, contracts, risk registers, and similar management records.
You will bring extensive experience working in a busy private office and have outstanding communication skills, able to confidently communicate and engage with a range of stakeholders. Your ability to work at pace while supporting senior leaders will be second to none, and you will have highly effective planning and organisational skills. Most importantly, you will have a passion for your work and will be eager to utilise that to support the work of RBL.

You will be contracted to our London, Haig House Hub. Under our Future Working framework, there will be some flexibility for working remotely/at home, using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues but with a minimum expectation of two days/week connecting directly face-to-face with colleagues at the hub.
