The Royal British Legion is embarking on a significant phase of digital and organisational transformation. As part of our newly formed Data, Technology and Transformation Directorate, we are seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Director: Technology to shape and lead the next stage of our technology strategy.
This is a newly redefined role, evolved to align with the ambitions set out in our refreshed organisational strategy. The remit has expanded significantly, reflecting the need for a more integrated, modern, and strategic approach to how technology enables our services, supports operational excellence, and drives long-term value. Building on our previous efforts, we are now seeking a technology leader who truly understands how to design and govern modern ecosystems of applications, with particular expertise in Microsoft platforms and enterprise technologies.

You will lead a team of senior Heads across engineering, architecture, cyber security, testing and operations, providing clear direction while fostering a culture of modern delivery, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. The role requires a strategic mindset and the ability to align complex technology programmes with broader organisational objectives. Experience of agile and flow-based delivery models, modern service design, and scalable platforms will be key.
We are looking for a senior technology leader with a strong strategic mindset, deep technical knowledge, and a modern approach to delivery. You will bring proven experience of leading high-performing teams, driving change at scale, and delivering technology strategies that are future-focused and outcomes-driven. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in shaping the future of RBL embedding modern platforms, practices, and thinking at the heart of a purpose-led organisation.

You will be contracted to our London Hub, Haig House. Under our Future Working framework, there will be some flexibility for working remotely/at home, using our collaboration tools to work with colleagues, but with a minimum expectation of two days per weekconnecting directly face-to-face with colleagues at the hub.
