Activities Assistant

We are looking for a part-time Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team at Mais House Care Home in Bexhill-on-Sea, East Sussex. As an Activities Assistant, you’ll help create a warm, engaging and enjoyable environment where residents can take part in activities, social events and experiences that reflect their interests, abilities and individual needs. Whether you enjoy getting creative, organising activities, spending time with people or simply making someone’s day a little brighter, we’d love to hear from you.

You’ll work closely with colleagues and relatives to understand what matters to each resident, helping to create opportunities for them to stay active, connected and involved. Please note that we are currently only able to consider applications from candidates who have the legal right to work in the UK. We are unable to sponsor visas. This is a part-time, permanent role for 16.5 hours per week, with shifts over seven days.

What you’ll be doing:

• Plan and deliver a varied programme of activities, social events and experiences
• Get to know our residents and understand their interests, preferences and individual needs
• Work with colleagues and relatives to help create personalised and stimulating activities
• Encourage residents to take part in activities and social opportunities in a way that works for them
• Support residents during mealtimes, helping to create a relaxed and comfortable dining experience
• Spend one-to-one time with residents, providing companionship and support where needed
• Accompany residents to appointments and activities
• Bring your own ideas, creativity and enthusiasm to help make everyday life enjoyable and fulfilling for our residents

You’ll need to be a patient, empathetic and good listener, with the communication skills to build positive relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds and with different needs. Previous experience in a similar role or environment is important, and we’re looking for someone with around two years’ experience who is confident working with people and providing a supportive, person-centred approach. A full, clean UK driving licence is required, and you’ll need to be comfortable driving an automatic vehicle as part of the role. If you have, or are willing to work towards, a Level 2 Award in Supporting Provision in Social Care, that would be an advantage.
