RBG Kew is a world-famous scientific organisation, a leading visitor attraction and UNESCO World Heritage Site, internationally respected for its outstanding living collection of plants and its world-class herbarium. Set in 330 acres, the Kew Gardens site is a beautiful place to work, and employs committed staff who are working to achieve Kew’s mission to understand and protect plants and fungi for the well-being of people and the future of all life on Earth. RBG Kew has a second UK site at Wakehurst, West Sussex. The estates consist of over 380 buildings and structures, 40 plus listed buildings, which are used for visitors, scientific research, storage of national collections and administration.
Role Overview
The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the delivery and implementation of the Estates maintenance strategy under the instruction of the Chief Engineer at RBG Kew. The role underpins the standards required and constant availability of the built facilities. These standards and service levels are commensurate with a UNESCO World Heritage Site of major significance, and a centre of excellence for botanical science. The role will be responsible for the delivery and implementation of the planned preventive and reactive maintenance within our Kew estate.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be a strong departmental leader with a track record of managing directly employed teams in addition to external suppliers. This role would suit individuals who have strong expertise in delivering change and transformation across a similarly diverse and complex estate. A strong background in fabric maintenance would be very advantageous.
