Reporting to the Trading Standards Team Leader, this role will give you the opportunity to experience, administer and enforce the full range of trading standards legislation. This includes working at major events such as Royal Ascot and events associated with Windsor Castle. We particularly welcome expertise in weights and measures, animal health and petroleum knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Investigating alleged offences under the legislation, preparing prosecution reports and giving evidence in court
  • Investigating complaints
  • Advising businesses and consumers
  • Conducting compliance checks and inspections
  • Initiating and carrying out projects

Qualifications

  • Trading standards qualification
  • Experience enforcing the full range of trading standards legislation
  • Sound inspection, investigation and research skills
  • Experience and ability to take enforcement and legal action, including PACE interviewing, preparation of evidence and prosecution reports, and issuing fixed penalty notices
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels and in a variety of media, forums and situations, including handling conflict situations
