The Role

The Front Door Team consists of Senior Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Social Workers, and Social Care Practitioners. The team provides timely advice, assessment and early intervention from first contact through to complex long‑term work. In this role, you will take a lead responsibility for DFG‑related assessments and major adaptation work, ensuring residents receive high‑quality, timely and person‑centred recommendations to support independence and safety at home. Alongside DFG work, you will manage a mixed caseload of short- and long‑term interventions. You will receive ongoing support from a Service Team Manager and a Principal Occupational Therapist, with access to regular supervision, training opportunities and annual appraisal.

Your role will involve:

  • Lead on and deliver comprehensive DFG assessments, including major adaptations and complex housing recommendations.
  • Provide high‑quality professional supervision and mentoring to qualified and unqualified staff in a fast‑paced multidisciplinary environment.
  • Complete a range of assessments, including moving and handling, risk assessments, and mental capacity assessments in line with the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Deliver skilled, strength‑based Occupational Therapy interventions to adults with diverse needs.
  • Work in partnership with surveyors, housing teams, contractors, health professionals and external agencies to achieve the best outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records and contribute to service development and continuous improvement.
  • Keep an up‑to‑date CPD portfolio and engage in relevant training and learning activities.

What we are looking for:

  • A qualified Occupational Therapist (BSc/MSc) with current HCPC registration.
  • Substantial post‑qualification experience with a strong background in DFG assessments, major home adaptations, and housing‑related OT practice.
  • Experience providing supervision or leadership to others.
  • Strong clinical skills in community practice, working with adults with physical disabilities, frailty, neurological conditions and complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and partnership‑working skills across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload and make sound professional decisions autonomously.
  • Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and housing/adaptation frameworks.
  • Experience with specialist equipment, home adaptations and Assistive Technology.
  • A valid UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use.

What we offer:

  • 32 days annual leave.
  • Flexible working including a hybrid working pattern for a better work‑life balance.
  • Generous Local Government Pension scheme includes life cover (3 times of annual salary); and an Additional Voluntary Contribution (AVC) scheme to enhance your pension provision.
  • Free employee parking close to the offices.
  • Give As You Earn scheme.
  • Instant Reward Scheme to recognise and reward innovative achievement.
  • Employee Assistance Programme providing counselling, advice and information.
  • Access to discounts and deals with hundreds of retailers, including discounted gym memberships and travel deals.
