The Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Revenues Officer to join our successful team to work on Council Tax and Business Rates. This is a full‑time, permanent role with hybrid working and a salary of £28,193 - £32,104 per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Revenues Team, reporting to a Senior Revenues Officer and the Revenues Team Leader.
  • Accurately and promptly process all aspects of Council Tax and Business Rates, from the creation of properties or accounts in the databases to the recovery and enforcement of Council Tax and Business Rate arrears.
  • Ensure that matters relating to Council Tax and Business Rates are dealt with promptly, balancing the need to support the delivery of a personalised service to residents with the need to protect the council’s financial interests.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with members of the public and other council departments in writing, by phone, or in person.

What we are looking for

  • Experience of the processing work involved in administering Council Tax accounts, as a Council Tax or Revenues Officer.
  • Good knowledge of a council tax system, preferably the MRI Academy System.
  • Ability to produce clear and concise written communication.
  • Ability to meet challenging deadlines.
  • Capacity to undertake repetitive and high‑volume processing tasks that are particular to Council Tax whilst maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Capability to work both as part of a team and also on your own with minimal supervision.
