We have an exciting opportunity for a Crisis Resilience Fund Officer to join the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead (RBWM). This is a full‑time, permanent role with hybrid working and a salary of £30,193 to £34,104 per annum. RBWM is a unitary authority in Berkshire, known for its exceptional team and innovative services. It offers a unique environment with proximity to London, expanding business sectors, and significant cultural and tourism attractions.
As a new member of the Benefits Team, you will assess the Crisis Resilience Fund (CRF), including crisis payments and housing payments. You will ensure timely, consistent, and person‑centred service while safeguarding the Council’s financial interests.
Responsibilities:
- Accurate and prompt decision making in the assessment of claims for CRF payments in accordance with relevant guidance and legislation.
- Identify the most appropriate support and wrap‑around services to assist with financial resilience.
- Maintain sound knowledge of the CRF scheme, Council Tax, Housing Benefit, and wider welfare benefit legislation.
- Monitor and recover overpayments, and identify potential fraud.
- Deal with customer enquiries face‑to‑face and by phone, meeting the commitment to high customer care.
- Assist with the completion of DWP MI returns.
Qualifications:
- Sound knowledge of Council Tax, Housing Benefit, Pension Service, DWP, Universal Credit, and current welfare benefit legislation.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, handling sensitive situations calmly and professionally.
- Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines in a pressured environment.
- Flexibility in working, including proven experience of home visiting and possession of a clean driving licence.
- Proven track record of resolving customer issues, being proactive, and acting with honesty and integrity.
