About the Role

  • Plan and deliver a learning programme in Early Years and/or Teaching Assistant Diploma courses, in line with awarding body specifications and KAE policies.
  • Induct learners into the programme and ensure that Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Safeguarding, Prevent and other KAE policies are implemented.
  • Assess learners on entry, monitor and document their progress.
  • Negotiate learning objectives for each learner to build their individual learning plan and adapt the programme of work accordingly, ensuring differentiation.
  • Assess learners’ work regularly and mark classwork/homework where appropriate, providing constructive developmental feedback on work including SPAG.

About You

  • We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative member of staff to teach in our Vocational curriculum area.
  • Hold a teaching qualification at Level 3 or above.
  • Have experience in teaching accredited Vocational courses, ideally in teaching Early Years and/or Teaching Assistant Diploma courses.
  • Be familiar with Early Years and Teaching Assistant Diploma course specifications and be able to ensure your delivery aligns with these including required learning outcomes and assessment criteria (we currently use NCFE).
  • Be able to include digital skills within your delivery of your course.
  • Question and challenge ways of working, with an understanding of the bigger picture in terms of the corporate context and external environment.
  • Demonstrate agility and adaptability in mindset and ways of working.
  • Work successfully with key stakeholders within and outside of the Council.
  • Demonstrate commitment to own personal and professional development to meet the changing demands of the role.

What You'll Also Do

  • Assess learners at the start of the course and plan a programme of learning to meet their needs.
  • Deliver learning that may take the form of a blend of classroom-based learning and online learning.
  • Review learners’ work regularly and mark classwork/homework where appropriate, providing constructive developmental feedback on work including SPAG.
  • Monitor and track progress and adapt the Scheme of Work to meet the needs of the learners when necessary.
  • Negotiate learning objectives for each learner and record them in their personal learning plan.
  • Differentiate the delivery to meet the needs of individual learners.
  • Prepare learners for exams or for their portfolio of work to be assessed and meet the required standards.
  • Ensure all course documentation (such as scheme of work) is in place and up to date.
  • Ensure that Health and Safety, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion, Safeguarding, Prevent and other KAE policies are implemented.

About Us

Kingston Adult Education is rated by Ofsted as a ‘good’ adult education provider for over 3,500 learners and is on an exciting journey towards outstanding provision. Our mission is to offer high quality learning and training opportunities to meet the needs of individuals and employers in Kingston and surrounding areas and to work alongside community partners to achieve this. You will join the Vocational tutor team within our Academic Provision (funded courses) and will have the opportunity to liaise and share resources with our dedicated, experienced existing tutors. The Early Years and Teaching Assistant Diploma courses usually run from our Hook Centre, in Chessington, or occasionally from the Guildhall in the centre of Kingston. Diploma courses run once a week, for 5 hours, over a full year. Our Working with Children L1 course runs for 2.5 hours a week for one term.
