About The Role And Our Ideal Candidate
The post holder will lead the team responsible for calculating and paying members benefits – including retirements, transfers, death grants, refunds and the monthly pensioner payroll – for the Sutton and Kingston Shared Pensions Administration Service.
About You
- LGPS Knowledge: Expert understanding of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and relevant overriding pensions legislation.
- Leadership: Experience managing, coaching, and developing team leaders to drive a collaborative, high-performance culture.
- Workload Management: Experience managing high-volume workflows, resource planning to prevent backlogs, and overseeing high-value payroll processes or financial controls.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex pensions information into clear updates for all stakeholders.
- Dispute Resolution: The ability to act as a technical escalation, resolving complex cases and IDRP complaints fairly and objectively.

The shared pensions administration service delivers the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) for both the Sutton and Kingston Pension Funds.
Together, we support circa 30,000 members and over 100 scheme employers.
Your main focus as manager will be leading the day-to-day service to ensure our members get a great customer experience.
You will make sure all pension processing is handled accurately, statutory deadlines are met, and the team has the support they need to deliver a reliable service.
