Venn Group are working with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea to hire a IT PMO Risk & Assurance Officer on a permanent basis, to work within the PMO function of the Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T) department.
The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea is a local authority, delivering essential services to residents and businesses within the borough.

Salary: £39,150 – 42,861 per annum
The IT PMO Risk & Assurance Officer will work to identify and reduce, mitigate, or prevent IT-related risks in collaboration with managers and service owners across the DD&T department and provide a regular summary of prioritised risks to the leadership team.
They will provide assurance to the leadership that all DD&T teams have clear and defined compliance standards, service levels and performance targets and that they are operating within those standards.
Responsibilities in post:
- Manage the DD&T risk management process, ensuring compliance with the Council’s corporate risk management process
- Own and manage the DD&T risk register; review risks regularly with DD&T team managers and ensure mitigation controls and actions are up to date
- Present a regular risk review for the DLT, focussing on a prioritised list of the most critical risks
- Manage the monthly KPI reporting process; ensure KPI reports are received from each team on time; challenge KPI metrics where necessary and ensure sufficient supporting evidence is available; update the monthly KPI report relating to risk management
- Oversee the project risk management process in the PPM tool; ensure project risks are complete and up to date; ensure the project risk management process is aligned with the overall department risk management process
- Provide project assurance support to the PMO Manager, for example at project checkpoint reviews, ensuring that project information in the PPM tool is up to date and that projects are compliant with the project governance framework
Desired skills and experience:
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Able to convey complex information in an easy to digest, visual and non-technical way
- Understanding of risk management principles and techniques including quantifiable measures and the use of controls in risk mitigation
- Familiarity with key IT processes such as IT architecture, information security, information governance, data management, access management, asset management, business continuity and IT service management (or ability to learn)
- Understanding of cyber security and IT compliance (or ability to learn )
- Demonstrable organisational and analytical skills
- Strong attention to detail and holds self-accountable for on-time delivery
- Able to constructively challenge, prioritise, influence and escalate where necessary
- Able to evidence the use of logic, data and reasoning to pre-empt and identify problems before they arise
