The Role:

As a Senior Electrical Engineer and Project Manager, you can make your own powerful contribution to maintaining safety in homes across Westminster’s housing portfolio. This is a technically critical role at the heart of Housing Services, where your expertise directly supports the council’s duty to repair, maintain and upgrade electrical installations across its stock.

  • You will act as the council’s senior electrical contact, providing authoritative technical advice and guidance to a wide range of teams, including Major Works, Regeneration, Asset Strategy and the wider Housing Services network.
  • Working primarily within the M&E team, you will lead the project management of major responsive electrical repairs, ensuring that urgent issues are managed swiftly and safely.
  • You will take responsibility for developing, defining and managing projects delivered through the M&E capital programme, ensuring that scopes are technically accurate, compliant with regulations and delivered to the highest standards.
  • For planned works and day-to-day repairs, you will ensure all electrical activity complies with contractual obligations, and you will manage the full programme of planned preventative maintenance assigned to you.
  • A key part of your role will be to develop a detailed understanding of PPM programmes undertaken by the M&E team, including electrical testing, fire detection and suppression systems.
  • Your role will see you regularly on site, confirming that major repairs and PPM works meet regulatory, contractual and technical standards.
  • You will visit residents whose outstanding faults have not been resolved, investigate the root causes and coordinate the response to ensure issues are rectified quickly.
  • Your responsibilities will also include raising and cancelling orders on internal systems, supporting the onboarding of new properties and ensuring all new assets are incorporated into relevant testing programmes.
  • You will collaborate closely with colleagues across Housing Services to improve quality, ensure consistent service delivery and enhance resident satisfaction.

About You:

You are an experienced electrical professional with a strong background in repair and maintenance services for residential buildings, bringing the confidence and technical capability to manage complex issues across a large and varied housing portfolio.

  • Your experience includes managing information, setting up monitoring systems and using spreadsheets, databases and other IT tools to analyse performance data and produce accurate reports.
  • You are methodical and analytical, with strong numeracy skills and great attention to detail.
  • You bring a strong ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, producing high-quality output and managing competing demands effectively.
