Capital Works in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. As a Senior Project Manager, it’s Mihir’s job to make sure the estates in the south of the borough are great places to live. He has worked on many important projects, including a recently completed major works project at Vale Royal House. After a challenging two-year programme, he and his team delivered upgrade work to 117 state-of-the-art apartments, which are home to more than 1500 people from diverse backgrounds.
The Role:
As an Economic Growth Officer, you will work with our Economic Growth Leads and the Head of Economic Growth to deliver a range of programmes, projects and services. You’ll initially focus on the Inward Investment portfolio, using in-depth research and detailed planning to identify and attract high-growth businesses from priority sectors. You will liaise with internal stakeholders to deliver a concierge-style service to high-profile businesses and maintain close working relationships with destination management partners and Business Improvement Districts. You’ll also develop creative initiatives to bring investment to Westminster.

For example, you could move from Inward Investment to focus on Business Improvement Districts, Enterprise Spaces, High Streets, Business Support or Meanwhile Activations.
About You:

You will have well-developed knowledge of economic development services, concepts and practices, and be a collaborative team player with experience of applying critical thinking and research to your work. Your excellent communication skills will help you build and maintain relationships with established and fast-growing businesses that often need time-sensitive support and guidance.
You should have experience supporting businesses at different stages of their life cycle, practical knowledge of creating and delivering project and programme briefings to senior stakeholders, and the ability to help with the delivery of enterprise spaces, business incubation, accelerators and workspaces projects. You will be skilled at converting strategic objectives into operational plans and capable of coordinating resources to achieve positive results.
Committed to maintaining a strong focus on key priorities and deliverables, you will stay resilient in a dynamic, fast-moving environment. Your information gathering and processing skills will help you tackle challenges and achieve practical solutions. A good understanding of account and contract management is important, as well as confident IT skills to translate research outcomes into concise, meaningful reports.
