Working pattern: Hybrid (3 days per week in the office)

About the Role:

As our Corporate Fire Safety Advisor, you’ll be the Council’s subject matter expert on fire risk management across corporate buildings and activities.

  • Lead on fire risk assessment reviews, validation, and audit programmes in line with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and BS 9997
  • Drive continuous improvement using the Plan, Do, Check, Act model
  • Provide technical fire safety advice on new builds, refurbishments, and remedial works
  • Support and shape fire strategies, policies, and compliance frameworks
  • Deliver engaging fire safety training and coordinate fire drills and emergency exercises
  • Draft, implement, monitor and improve fire safety arrangements and procedures across the corporate estate
  • Report on compliance and risk to senior management and leadership to strengthen assurance on fire safety performance
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, contractors, and partners such as Building Control and the London Fire Brigade
  • Play a key role in ensuring compliance with Building Regulations (Part B) and the Council’s enhanced standards

This is a highly visible role where you’ll influence decision-making, support major projects, and help embed a strong fire safety culture across the organisation.

About you:

  • You’re a confident and credible fire safety professional who can balance technical expertise with practical delivery.
  • A Level 4/5 fire safety qualification and professional membership (e.g. GIFireE or equivalent)
  • Experience in multi-site fire safety management and complex building environments
  • Strong knowledge of fire risk assessments, auditing, and fire safety systems
  • The ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience contributing to fire strategy development and capital projects
  • Excellent communication, training, and influencing skills
