At Kensington and Chelsea, we’re all in - making sure every resident gets the care, support and respect they need to live as independently as possible. As an Independent Living Assessor, undertaking Carers Assessments you’ll be a key part of that mission, helping adults stay safe, supported and confident in their day-to-day lives.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll be part of our experienced Review Team, your working hours will be 28 per week over 4 days.
- You will be required to spend 2 days in the office per week undertaking annual Carers Assessments for informal carers.
- You will be required to complete 8-10 carers assessments per week.
- The carers assessment will capture the needs of informal carers, and you will support the informal carer to meet their outcomes which will help them to continue caring for the cared-for person in the longer term while maintaining a better quality of life.
- The post is based in the Review Team, which is made up of a Team Manager, an Advanced Social Work Practitioner, Social Workers and Independent Living Assessors.
- You will also work alongside health and care professionals, to ensure a multi-disciplinary approach.
What you’ll bring:
- You’ll have experience supporting adults in a care, housing or community setting - perhaps as a support worker, carer or housing officer.
- You’ll understand the realities of working with vulnerable people and bring a calm, practical and compassionate approach to your work.
- You’ll also need to be organised, confident working independently and skilled at juggling priorities.
- Good IT skills are essential, along with strong communication - especially when working with adults from a wide range of cultures, languages and backgrounds.
- You don’t need a formal social work qualification to succeed in this role.
- What matters most is your ability to listen, your understanding of what good care looks like and your commitment to helping people live well.
