As a key part of the Grenfell Education Team, you will work closely with those most affected to provide the steady support young people need to move forward. This isn't about erasing what's happened - it's about ensuring that their futures are not limited by it. Your role is about building trust, creating space for healing, and opening up opportunities - to help make sure that every young person feels seen, heard and valued.
Working Style: You'll be based in the Borough for five days a week, playing a key role in serving the local community. You'll be part of a dedicated team making a real difference to residents' lives.
What you'll be doing: Your role will focus on helping young people make informed, confident decisions about their future - whether that's education, training or employment. You will work one-to-one with students, building relationships rooted in empathy and respect. Through these conversations, you will support young people in understanding the opportunities available to them, while ensuring their personal experiences, interests and challenges are fully acknowledged and valued.
You will work across both schools and community settings, bringing consistency and clarity to the careers guidance offered. By collaborating with schools, families, employers and local organisations, you'll help organise experiences that make career pathways feel tangible - from visits and talks to hands-on workshops. These events won't just inform; they'll inspire, helping young people develop the skills and self-belief needed to take their next steps.
Alongside this, you will help create clear, engaging careers resources, supporting students in areas like CV writing, interview preparation, and long-term goal setting. Working closely with the Senior Secondary Specialist, you will also play a key role in shaping the guidance offered during critical post-16 and post-18 transitions. Above all, your work will reflect a trauma-informed, relational approach - built around listening, understanding and supporting each young person in a way that honours their individual journey.
This role is about far more than providing information. It's about creating space for young people to be heard. It's about noticing when someone is struggling, staying present when the path forward feels uncertain, and helping every young person feel that their future is worth investing in - and that they won't face it alone.
What you'll bring: You'll hold a Level 6 qualification in Career Guidance and Development - such as a QCG or DipCG - and have experience working within secondary school environments across a range of key stages. You'll bring a strong understanding of the English education system and the ability to offer careers advice that is both informed and emotionally attuned.
You'll be a compassionate communicator who knows how to build rapport and create trust - someone who recognises the power of listening. You'll have experience supporting young people with diverse needs, and feel confident designing and delivering workshops and group sessions. You'll be able to work independently while also contributing to a collaborative, cross-disciplinary team.
Above all, you will be motivated by a belief in young people - in their potential, their voice, and their right to shape their future with the right support around them.
