Technical Officer / Environmental Health Officer (SO2 to PO2)

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking dedicated, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic Technical Officers and Environmental Health Officers within the Environmental Health service, part of the Council\’s Community Safety & Environmental Health Division. Our mission is to ensure residents have access to safe and secure housing that meets their needs, striving to be the \’best or better\’ in our service delivery.
A key focus of this role is the licensing of private rented properties. Post holders will demonstrate best practices and high productivity in their responsibilities.
Responsibilities include onsite inspections for various property types, conducting dynamic risk assessments, and providing support and advice to tenants and landlords. Routine compliance visits will cover Houses in Multiple Occupation and properties requiring Selective licenses. The role also involves enforcement activities, reviewing application documents, and drafting licenses.
The ideal candidate is a confident communicator capable of working independently and within a team. We are particularly interested in applicants with experience in private sector housing, regulatory compliance, or enforcement within a local authority setting.
The appointment will be based on your knowledge, skills, and qualifications, graded between SO2 and PO2.
