  • Support energy‑reduction and carbon‑emission initiatives, ensuring the street lighting network aligns with council sustainability targets.
  • Engage with stakeholders and the community, responding to enquiries and providing clear updates on planned works and improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records, update the asset inventories, and condition data to guide investment and long‑term planning.

About You

We’re looking for a practical engineer who also sees the bigger picture and can work well under pressure, with a commitment to continuous improvement and sustainability.

Ideally, You Will Have

  • A current G39 & NRSWA accreditation.
  • An excellent understanding of street lighting design, installations, and maintenance with a strong knowledge of electrical systems and components.
  • A good knowledge of smart lighting systems including LED, Solar, CMS and other energy‑saving solutions along with a good knowledge of UK Regulations and Safety Standards.
  • Excellent principles of project management with the ability to manage multiple projects from initial survey to final installation while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Excellent working relationships and communication skills to assist and support colleagues, councillors, residents and other departments of the Royal Borough, including utilities and associated stakeholders.
  • As well as this, you may also be required to undertake a discipline lead role whilst working alongside less experienced members of the team using your experience to mentor and develop apprentices and other department members that utilise the street lighting team and services.
