About The Role

Hours: Permanent, Part Time – 4 days (28 hours per week, 52 weeks)

Job Purpose
The prime purpose of this role is to support effective and efficient use of financial resources and systems across Home‑Start Greenwich. The role will ensure day‑to‑day accurate and efficient financial administration, monitoring, and reporting, and will also provide support to the Finance, Fundraising and Marketing sub‑committee.
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain the purchase ledger – input purchase ledger invoices, manage supplier accounts, staff expenses, PLEO, and execute timely and accurate payment runs.
- Maintain the sales ledger – authorise and code invoices in line with company coding structure, handle AR invoicing and debtor reporting.
- Financial management for Plumstead Nursery and Eglinton Nursery – monthly invoicing, direct debit processing, debtor reporting and ad‑hoc assistance to nursery managers.
- Work with HR and the outsourced payroll provider to prepare and process monthly payroll, manage PAYE and pension payments.
- Prepare annual budgets with the Director of Operations.
- Produce regular budget monitoring reports, investigate variances and ensure delivery within agreed budgets alongside budget leads.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and manage the fixed asset and depreciation schedule.
- Assist with grant applications, produce budgetary documents and monitor grant awards to the Senior Leadership Team and external funders.
- Ensure accurate and timely closure of the financial accounts for month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end; produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow).
- Support the production of statutory audited accounts in collaboration with the Director of Operations and auditors.
- Record and reconcile petty cash and prepare postings to the finance systems.
- Record Gift Aid and report to HMRC in accordance with accounting principles and best practice.
- Provide advice on financial queries, ensuring responses align with Home‑Start Greenwich financial policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and reduce costs or improve contracts.
- Maintain and update financial procedures to retain efficiency and align with industry best practice, staying abreast of changes in the financial accounting system.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial accounting records in accordance with Home‑Start Greenwich policies, facilitating timely management and statutory reporting.
- Undertake other finance administrative tasks and general support to the Director of Operations as required.
Experience and Skills
- Qualified or part‑qualified AAT, CIMA, ACCA.
- Experience producing detailed financial and management reporting to highlight current position and future risks.
- Excellent computer literacy – MS Office, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and internet applications.
- Advanced knowledge and experience of computerised financial accounting systems and spreadsheets – Xero desirable but not necessary.
- Proven experience working directly with Senior Leadership Teams and external accountants.
- Charity finance experience desirable.
