We are seeking a motivated and organised Planning and Building Control Support Officer to join our busy and dynamic team. In this key administrative role, you will provide essential support to both the Planning and Building Control teams, helping to ensure the efficient processing of applications and delivery of high-quality customer service. You will act as a first point of contact for residents, developers, and stakeholders, handling enquiries and supporting the smooth operation of the service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support across Planning and Building Control functions
- Process planning and building control applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures
- Maintain and update databases and records, including document management systems
- Respond to customer enquiries via phone, email, and in person in a professional and timely manner
- Assist with the validation of applications and checking submitted documentation
- Support the coordination of consultations and statutory notifications
- Liaise with internal teams, external agencies, and stakeholders
- Assist with invoicing, fee processing, and financial tracking where required
- Contribute to continuous service improvement and digital transformation initiatives
About You
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Experienced in an administrative or customer service role (local authority experience desirable)
- A confident communicator with strong written and verbal skills
- Able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Comfortable working with IT systems and databases
- A team player with a proactive and flexible approach
Knowledge or interest in planning and building control processes would be advantageous, but training will be provided.
