The predicted salary is between 40000 - 50000 £ per year.

We are looking for an experienced professional to work within Repairs and Investment. You will be joining a dedicated reactive repairs team providing support services to our operational teams. You will be self‑motivated, intuitive with the confidence to represent the Council’s interests in various forums and circumstances. Excellent communication skills and be customer focused.

Part of your duties will include:

  • Assist with managing, directing, motivating and developing staff
  • Organise training and personal development
  • Assist with the allocation of work in line with Council policies and procedures
  • Assisting in developing and promoting new workshop standards and working practices
  • Promoting high standards of working practices
  • Assist with the delivery of all works within agreed budgets and timescales

As an Assistant Supervisor you will need:

  • Good observational skills
  • Knowledge of the construction industry, including planning for materials, trades, building methods and legal requirements
  • Excellent organisational, communication and negotiating skills
  • Good written communication, report writing and computer skills
  • Able to interpret financial and statistical information, in regard to the day to day needs and requirements of running a workshop
  • The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff at all levels

Ideally you should have a recognised qualification and/or related experience with a good knowledge of the building industry. You will have the skills and abilities required to deal with the conflicting demands and timescales, whilst maintaining good relationships with team members.
