An opportunity has arisen for an occupational therapist to join the Housing Occupational Therapy Team, located within the multi-disciplinary Royal Greenwich Disability and Home Improvement Team. The Housing Occupational Therapy Team takes a multifactorial approach to maximising the availability of accessible housing to residents of the Royal Borough who have an identified need for it. This busy, rewarding and varied role will suit applicants who have a strong commitment to the delivery of high-quality services to residents and an understanding of housing problems faced by people with health and disability issues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct thorough occupational therapy assessments and develop intervention plans focused on environmental adaptation.
- Use effective communication and activity analysis to identify resident needs and set realistic goals.
- Apply a proactive problem‑solving approach to access and independence issues, informed by the Social Model of Disability and Inclusive Design principles.
- Interpret and apply UK building regulations (Approved Document M) and ADM requirements to support housing adaptations.
- Read and analyse building plans to inform assessment and intervention recommendations.
- Work independently and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve positive outcomes for residents.
- Take ownership of the caseload, managing resident issues from assessment to completion within appropriate time‑frames.
To be eligible, you must be registered to practise as an occupational therapist with the UK Health and Care Professions Council.

- Experience in occupational therapy assessments and environmental adaptation.
- Strong communication and activity analysis skills.
- Understanding of health and disability issues and the Social Model of Disability.
- Familiarity with UK building regulations (Approved Document M) and ADM requirements.
