Business Change Accountant
This is an exciting opportunity for a treasury and pensions specialist to join the Royal Borough of Greenwich Council\’s Finance Team.
The Council\’s Pension Fund is one of the largest Local Government Pension Schemes (LGPS) in London, with assets exceeding £1.7 billion and an ambitious target to achieve carbon neutrality across its investment portfolio.
The role sits within the Partnering and Investment Team and reports to the Accounting & Business Change Deputy Manager for Treasury and Pensions. You will support all aspects of ensuring our Pension Fund and Treasury functions are effective, including oversight of the Pension Fund\’s investment portfolio in line with LGPS regulations.
The role will lead all aspects of pension fund accounting, including the production of the Statement of Accounts and line management of the Pension Fund Accountant.
The successful candidate will also support the monitoring of pension fund investments and the management of pension fund contracts. You will liaise with external fund managers, advisers, and other suppliers, building effective working relationships and maintaining high service standards for the Pension Fund.
To be considered, you should be a qualified accountant or possess relevant experience at an equivalent professional level. Experience in pension fund investments and accounting within local government and/or treasury functions is desirable, but strong technical accounting skills are essential. Excellent communication and presentation skills are also required to convey complex financial information clearly and accessibly.
