Deputy Ward Manager – CAMHS | Essex

Salary: Β£43,014 – Β£46,314 per year

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

Our client is a well-regarded independent mental health provider operating a dedicated young people's inpatient unit in Essex. ABOUT THE ROLE: As Deputy Ward Manager, you will work alongside the Ward Manager to ensure the delivery of safe, therapeutic and person-centred care across the CAMHS unit. You will take a hands-on senior nursing lead, overseeing clinical standards, managing risk, supporting governance requirements and acting as a role model for the wider team. No two days are the same, this is a role that rewards resilience, clinical confidence and a genuine commitment to young people's mental health.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Acting as Senior Nurse / Charge Nurse across the ward, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families and visitors
  • Supporting the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, with a personalised approach to treatment
  • Applying and communicating relevant policies, statutory requirements and governance frameworks across the team
  • Assessing and managing risk across the immediate and wider ward environment
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion, leading by example across the clinical team
  • Contributing to the professional development of junior staff through supervision, mentoring and training
  • Playing a key role in treatment outcomes, supporting young people to move forward with confidence

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Active NMC registration, with all revalidation requirements met
  • At least 18 months to two years of post-registration experience, with clear expertise in a defined clinical specialty
  • Experience as a trained assessor or supervisor, with clinical supervision experience (formal training desirable)
  • A strong commitment to continued professional development and growing leadership capability
  • Solid IT and computer skills
  • Natural empathy, resilience and a team-focused approach
  • CAMHS or young people's mental health experience would be a distinct advantage
