We have an exciting opportunity for a Student Opportunities Officer within the Careers and Student Opportunities Directorate for a fixed term until January 2028. The role aims to support the development and implementation of our Professional Mentoring, Go Abroad and Volunteering programmes and wider initiatives. This will involve engaging with students, recent graduates and external stakeholders to maximise participation and drive graduate employment outcomes.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development and implementation of Professional Mentoring, Go Abroad and Volunteering programmes and wider initiatives.
  • Engage with students, recent graduates and external stakeholders to maximise participation and drive graduate employment outcomes.
  • Work within the sector-aligned Student Opportunities Team, sourcing and promoting volunteering opportunities.
  • Support events from bespoke masterclasses to large-scale careers fairs for over 1,000 students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience of working with employers, community organisations and partners.
  • Experience of working to targets and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently within a small, fast-paced and ambitious team and contribute to improving student and graduate prospects.

Eligibility and Programme Information:

This vacancy is open to Birmingham City University graduates from the academic year 2024/25. To be eligible, you must have completed your course between 1 August 2024 and 31 July 2025, and you must no longer be studying.
