Birmingham City University is a large, diverse and dynamic institution located in the heart of the city. We are seeking a talented and proactive marketing and communications professional to join our Business Partnering Team. As Marketing and Communications Business Partner, you will act as the key link between our academic subject specialists and the Marketing, Recruitment and Communications Department. Working with a defined portfolio of subjects, you will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused marketing, communications and student recruitment service that supports the University’s strategic objectives. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the institution to plan and deliver a wide range of activities designed to maximise course visibility, engagement and recruitment performance. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident relationship-builder with strong interpersonal and communication skills. The role would particularly suit candidates with experience in relationship-led environments such as agency account management, business partnering or operational marketing roles.

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Build and maintain strong, effective relationships across academic Schools and the Marketing, Recruitment and Communications teams.
  • Develop and implement targeted marketing plans aligned to subject and School priorities, ensuring delivery against agreed objectives.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance against key metrics and recruitment targets.
  • Support major recruitment initiatives, including Open Days and Clearing.
  • Work collaboratively with the Recruitment Operations Team to ensure course and subject information is accurate and consistently presented across all platforms.
  • Analyse data and produce insightful reports to inform marketing and recruitment activity.
  • Provide an excellent customer-focused service, offering professional advice and guidance to internal stakeholders.

Role Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in a marketing and communications role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated with excellent organisational skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrable success in developing and delivering marketing plans that achieve measurable business objectives.
