A dynamic role within the Marketing and Communication Department supporting the Staff Communications Team. You will generate engaging content, create videos and photography, support events and use a range of channels to inform, engage and enthuse the BCU community. The role also involves producing reporting metrics across platforms and developing your understanding of staff communications needs.

  • Eligibility: Open only to Birmingham City University graduates from the academic year 2024/25 who completed the course between 01 August 2024 and 31 July 2025 and who are no longer studying.

Responsibilities

  • Generate content ideas aligned with the University’s strategic aims for internal communications.
  • Deliver content – written material, photos and video – that promotes engagement.
  • Assist in the urgent dissemination of news and information (crisis communications).
  • Publish content using Campaign Master for the staff newsletter, Tiger Today, digital screens, social media and print.
  • Support internal communications activities aligned with key institutional projects.
  • Use the University’s TriplePlay digital screens to present consistent, engaging and topical content.
  • Develop internal campaigns and support regular events such as VC Town Halls, I AM BCU Awards, Staff Party and other ad-hoc events.
  • Support student recruitment events including open days, applicant taster days, business/community events and Clearing.

Skills and Experience

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong content creation skills – video and photography.
  • Excellent organisational skills, managing multiple tasks to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and willingness to learn PhotoShop, Eventbrite and CampaignMaster.
  • Team player.
