Role information:
This is an exciting role within our Marketing and Communication Department to support the Staff Communications Team with planning and creating effective and engaging communications material. You will be a naturally talented content generator who can translate a variety of important announcements for staff into engaging news stories and content that they will want to read or watch. Alongside strong writing skills, the role encompasses creating video and photography, supporting with events and using a range of channels to inform, engage and enthuse the BCU community. You will also learn about and deliver reporting metrics across our platforms to develop your own strong awareness of staff demands and interests, and how that supports channel developments across staff communications.
Main Activities And Responsibilities:
- Support the team to generate content ideas that meet the University's strategic aims for internal communications.
- Turn ideas into reality by delivering content – whether that is sharply written material, great photos or video – that promotes engagement.
- Assist in the urgent dissemination of news and information (crisis communications) to staff, supporting the use of the regular staff newsletter, Tiger Today, digital screens, social media and print to inform and engage.
- Assist the wider team to publish content using Campaign Master for the staff newsletter, which can on occasion be of a sensitive and confidential nature.
- Assist with internal communications activities aligned to key institutional projects.
- Use the University's TriplePlay digital screens to ensure that they provide consistent, engaging and topical content.
- Support the team with the development of campaigns for an internal audience, as well as assisting regular events such as VC Town Halls, other briefings, I AM BCU Awards, Staff Party and any other ad hoc events.
- Assist and support the wide range of activities undertaken within the Department in support of student recruitment, including open days, applicant taster days, business/community events and Clearing.
Skills And Experience:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent content creation skills – video and photography.
- Good organisation skills and being able to manage multiple tasks to a deadline is essential.
- Good IT skills with proficiency in MS Office and willingness to be trained up on other platforms such as PhotoShop, Eventbrite and CampaignMaster.
- Team player.
