About the Role

Birmingham City University is a dynamic and forward‑thinking institution, committed to providing our students with exceptional opportunities to excel academically and professionally. We are recruiting an Employability Adviser who understands recruitment and selection, has experience developing employability activities, and provides supportive and encouraging advice and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver individual and group‑based workshops and sessions to students, developing their employability, preparing them for the workplace and enabling them to gain the most from their experience.
  • Work with the Careers team to develop students’ employability skills, targeting delivery to students and graduates who most need support.
  • Contribute to the organisation, administration and delivery of student work‑based learning projects and activities.

Key Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level and/or have a vocational qualification and/or equivalent experience, including a good standard of literacy and numeracy equivalent to GCSE English and Maths.
  • Experience working with employers and a good understanding of recruitment and selection processes, and/or experience developing employability activities and opportunities.
  • Relevant experience in a similar role supporting students in becoming professionally ready to enter the workplace would be beneficial.

Employment Details

Appointed candidate will normally be employed through our subsidiary company BCU Support Services Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Birmingham City University. Appointees with prior LGPS membership who wish to enter the LGPS scheme will be able to do so and will be employed by Birmingham City University directly.
