We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team at Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. We seek a dynamic, confident, motivated, and enthusiastic individual to join the Therapies team as a Senior Physiotherapy Assistant, supporting the MSK Outpatients and Orthopaedics inpatient teams.
In this role, you will work closely with patients, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and other multidisciplinary team members, undertaking responsibilities to support the smooth running of the Therapies service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patients efficiently, effectively, and safely, under delegation from Physiotherapists, supporting routine patient care independently when appropriate.
- Be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, ensuring high standards of clinical practice.
- Follow Trust and departmental procedures, policies, guidance, and pathways.
- Manage patient care safely, accurately reporting results and issues to supervising Physiotherapists.
- Be aware of clinical risks within your caseload and seek advice to manage them effectively.
- Deliver physiotherapy treatments, individually or in groups, under direction.
- Possess knowledge of manual handling and mobility skills, including safe transfer equipment use.
- Assist in discharge planning, liaising with the multidisciplinary team as needed.
- Support the development of junior Physiotherapy Assistants.
Minimum Requirements
- Previous NHS experience
- Experience in a clinical setting
- IT skills including email and Microsoft applications
- Experience working with the public in healthcare or caring roles
Desirable Criteria
- Understanding of hospital operations
- Education to GCSE level including English and Maths
- Knowledge of Physiotherapy
