What is the opportunity?

RBC are seeking a Director to join our London office. In this position, you will support the interpretation and implementation of key regulations and policy initiatives alongside evolving the GM Europe 1LOD (First Line of Defense) procedures framework. By partnering with Business Heads and Functional Partners, you will drive the efficiency and effectiveness of our business control environment and operating models. Additionally, you will support the governance framework and ensure robust regulatory and audit evidence, including management reporting, to uphold adherence to internal policies and procedures.

What will you do?

  • Partner with Compliance and Law Group to keep abreast of regulatory change and guidance considering the impact on the Global Markets Europe business and communicating / implementing as appropriate.
  • Ensure relevant regulatory and policy requirements are considered against key strategic initiatives and discussed with Global Markets Europe Leadership.
  • Evaluate and review the on-going effectiveness of implemented policies and identify / remediate any gaps.
  • Maintain and evolve desk procedures and other appropriate business documentation including KPIs and Management Information.
  • Support an effective governance framework to ensure SMFs receive timely escalation and information.
  • Support 1LOD training on relevant policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify and standardise processes related to regulations and policies.
  • Support an effective control environment to adhere to internal policies and external requirements, taking a Leadership role to partner with second line of defence functions.
  • Engage in ad hoc projects and initiatives across the business as required.
  • Proactively identify operational risks / control deficiencies in the business.
  • Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities.
  • Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies, and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions promptly.

  • Extensive experience within a Front Office Global Markets supervision role.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory policy and change.
  • Experience of 1LOD training, policy and procedures.
