What is the opportunity?
An exciting opportunity to join the Equity Research team in London, where you will be responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the European bank sector

Responsibilities

  • Provide research support to the European banks Research team.
  • Assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial models.
  • Analyze financial statements, company and industry specific data.
  • Assist with writing research reports, sector notes and presentations.
  • Prepare presentations and research notes covering European banks and the wider financial sector in collaboration with other team members and associates.
  • Maintain and develop data sets that inform about the operating environment of banks (macro, rates, credit markets, investment banking trends), sometimes in collaboration with other teams (e.g. economists).
  • Develop an expertise in the sector.
  • Maintain relationships with coverage companies, investors and internal clients (e.g. sales, trading).
  • Support and answer client queries as well as internal requests as they relate to the sector.
  • Support the culture and direction of RBC by continuously looking for opportunities to broaden own experience and skill set, to collaborate and to support the community.

What you need to succeed

Must have

  • Required undergraduate degree or similar qualification.
  • CFA, ACA, actuary, or similar qualification is preferred
  • Superior customer service focus and attitude for internal and external clients
  • Ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Commitment to task and an attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities
  • Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends
  • Self-starter – must be organized and able to work independently
  • Good personal skills and the ability to work and coordinate effectively within a team environment
  • Excellent writing and communications skills
  • Strong PC skills specifically in Microsoft Office applications and ability to quickly learn new platforms to source data.
  • Passion for equity/financial markets

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Capital Markets or experience within the sector.
  • UK Licensing Requirements – FSA or by exemption (as applicable)
  • Previous experience in the Financials sector or Research related role an asset
