Director, HR Europe Strategic Governance and Risk executes the operational management of the HR Europe Department on behalf of the Head of Human Resources, Europe and has oversight responsibilities for various functional areas within the department.
What is the opportunity?
- HR Business Management: Co‑ordinate the execution of HR strategic priorities for Europe in partnership with the HR ExCo and global HR teams.
- HR Reporting: Responsible for the production of UK HR Management Reporting including Executive Committees, HRC, HROC and Board requirements.
- HR Audit, Risk & Privacy: Proactively manage HR audit and risk activities across Europe, including compliance, risk assessments, operational risk and business continuity management, while representing HR in regional and enterprise‑wide risk forums. Additionally, provide regional oversight of the HR Privacy Risk team member.
- HR Governance: Oversee and coordinate HR related governance frameworks, programmes and controls.
- HR Project Management: Act as project manager for select HR strategic initiatives and serve as the HR representative on regional business‑led projects.
- Global Mobility: Regionally oversee immigration processes, international transfers and assignments into Europe.
- Culture and Inclusion: Contribute to the regional Culture and Inclusion strategy and initiatives roadmap, oversee implementation and provide advice and counsel to the key leaders across the region, in RBC more broadly and externally in the marketplace.
Culture & Inclusion (Interim – maternity leave cover)
- Drive the development and execution of the regional Culture and Inclusion action plan aligned to enterprise direction.
- Partner with and provide guidance to Senior Executives and their respective teams on all aspects of Culture & Inclusion across the region (UK, Channel Islands and Europe).
- Act as secretary of the European DLC; drive the identification of agenda items, engage in discussion as a subject matter expert, and drive forward action items.
- Leveraging data, insights, awareness of the external environment and enterprise focus, proactively identify opportunities and emerging issues and respond as needed.
- Act as the regional expert for culture & inclusion activities and ensure enterprise teams and Senior Leaders have awareness and understanding of regional regulations, needs and requirements.
- Shape C&I governance in the region and provide guidance and oversight to Employee Resource Groups, C&I Forums and the DLC.
This role is a permanent full‑time position and requires four days in the office.
What will you do?
- HR Business Management: Drive and oversee the articulation and execution of strategic priorities for the European HR team in partnership with the HR ExCo. Support the Head of HR to ensure top HR team engagement and facilitate business routines across the regional platforms and functions (i.e. HR Meet‑ups, townhalls, HR ExCo, PM Newsletter, HROC). Provide first‑level invoice approval for HR.
- HR Reporting: Responsible for UK HR Management Reporting including Executive Committees, HRC, HROC and Board requirements. Provide continuous improvement, simplification and a strategic view of reporting.
- HR Audit, Risk and Privacy: Proactively manage HR risk activities across Europe, including compliance, risk assessments and mitigating operational risks, while representing HR in regional and enterprise‑wide risk forums. Oversee the regional HR Privacy Risk team member and the implementation of the Global Privacy Program for Human Resources in Europe, ensuring compliance with applicable privacy laws, regulations and internal policies.
- HR Governance: Oversee and coordinate HR related governance frameworks, programmes and controls, such as Conduct Breach Programme, ensuring alignment with regulatory and organisational standards.
- HR Project Management: Provide project management support for key HR projects, ensuring effective governance, timely delivery, and adherence to RBC standards and requirements. Lead Conduct & Culture programmes for HR ensuring RBC's regional conduct initiatives are coordinated and embedded. Act as the HR representative on regional business‑led initiatives, developing and delivering a people plan aligned to business objectives.
