What is the opportunity?
We are looking for a personable, ambitious and hardworking investment Associate to join the RBC Brewin Dolphin Edinburgh Charity Team. This well established and successful charity team manages significant investments for a wide range of Charity and Institutional clients throughout Scotland. They are also part of the RBC Brewin Dolphin national charities team, one of the UK’s leading charity investment managers, working together with a common goal to provide a high level of service and thoughtful investment solutions to existing and prospective charity clients.
As an Associate, you will have committed to a career in investment management and have completed or be nearing the end of your professional qualifications. The individual will initially provide support and assistance to the Wealth Managers, working under the guidance of senior colleagues in the Charities team. There will be opportunities to develop knowledge of wealth management, and the client advice processes for charities and to get involved in new business initiatives, build client relationship skills and in time take on client responsibilities.
What will you do?
- Provide quality assistance and support under supervision of senior wealth colleagues to meet clients’ requirements.
- Support wealth colleagues with all aspects of client support and assist in preparation of reviews, reports and client documentation.
- Develop knowledge on breadth of investment, lending and cash opportunities
- Support business development, through building personal and professional network, attending charity and industry events, assisting in responding to invitation to tender and developing knowledge of client take on processes.
- Develop awareness of the local and national charity team business plans and develop understanding to support the team in achieving overall objectives.
- Grow your knowledge and understanding of the charity sector, different governance models, and develop network of charity trustees and executives.
- Complete all work to a high level according to procedure and standards.
- Develop full understanding of existing and new digital capabilities and support client adoption as part of the overall wealth management proposition.
- Ensure adherence to group values, policies, procedures, and working practices.
- Adhere to the RBC Wealth management code of conduct and professional standards. In day-to-day role and in any client interaction.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Relevant prior experience in wealth management is required and you will have completed or be working towards an Industry recognised qualifications to CISI level 4 and a willingness to work towards CISI level 7 if not already achieved. Experience with charities is not essential.
- Good time management skills and organisation skills are essential. This is a demanding role in a busy team where you will often be managing many priorities and tasks.
- Proactive, enjoy learning new things and seek out ways to expand your knowledge.
- An interest in the charity sector with previous experience of volunteering or fundraising desirable.
- Good attention to detail, maintaining accuracy when completing written and numerical based tasks.
- Clear and concise communication skills – with ability to communicate professionally with clients and colleagues.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Word/Excel/Outlook/Teams/ Powerpoint.
Nice-to-have
- Industry recognised qualifications to CISI level 7.
- Previous experience of the charitable sector
