Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM UK & Ireland is seeking an experienced and motivated Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our ASTI onshore team, working on Bingally Substation. As a key member of this team, you will contribute to the delivery of large-scale civil engineering works that will provide critical infrastructure to support future renewable developments across Scotland. Initially, you will be based out of our Kilsyth or Inverness office, before transitioning to site during the project delivery phase, where you will likely be on site a minimum of 3 days per week, with the remaining 2 days at one of our head offices. A living-away allowance will be provided for working away from home, along with other package benefits. Making Possible

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Manage and mentor a commercial team across multiple schemes.
  • Liaise closely with the operations team and support services to ensure alignment and collaboration.
  • Participate in project performance discussions and contribute commercial insight to strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee commercial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring the timely delivery of: Monthly cost value reconciliations (CVRs), cash flow monitoring, monthly and quarterly financial forecasts, applications for payment, and effective change management.
  • Ensure compliance with internal commercial processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Work closely with clients and key stakeholders to identify and deliver optimal commercial solutions.
  • Represent the company in commercial discussions, negotiations, and progress reviews.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement and subcontractor management procedures.
  • Provide input and commercial guidance during the pre-construction/tender phases of projects.
  • Manage Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) projects or a portfolio of ECI projects from a commercial perspective, including review of contract documentation.

What do you bring to the role?

Necessary:

  • Previous experience of managing a team (ideally across multiple projects)
  • Previous experience on civil engineering schemes
  • Experience of NEC form of Contract
  • Thorough understanding of contractual provisions with a view to be able to comment, review and draft documents.
  • Relevant qualification – Degree; HNC/D

Advantageous:

  • Early Contractor Involvement experience
  • Experience of target cost contracts
  • Good client-facing collaborative attitude
  • Good communication skills
  • Relevant Professional qualification (CICES/RICS)
