BAM UK&I are recruiting a Lead IT Solution Architect to join our ERP Programme from London or Hemel Hempstead office on a hybrid basis on a 24 month FTC.
Making Possible
- To be accountable for maintaining and ensuring adherence to the BAM programme governance model including continuous improvement and adherence to best practices.
- Ensures portfolio management of the overall baseline scope for the programme as well as any subsequent change control as a result of changes to scope at a global, regional or country level.
- Ensures that all scope changes are documented, impact assessed and approved for delivery and subsequently tracked to completion.
- Responsible for solution design, configuration and deployment for SAP S/4 HANA UK & I programme, providing subject matter expertise, and guidance on best practices.
- Responsible for discussing solution options, recommendations and implications with the Design Authority supporting SMEs.
- The Architect will serve as the conduit between the business and technology.
- In general, they will oversee all aspects of a systems solution, including Record to Reporting, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Master Data Management and Projects.
- Ensuring that the solution works as a whole and remove functional silos.
- Engages with the BAM group Business stakeholders in understanding their requirements, scoping, discovering and defining solutions, explaining business benefits and use cases.
- Working as part of the programme management team and supporting the functional leads and SMEs.
- Provides subject matter expertise input into the Programme's Solution Design development and delivery activities.
- Responsible for creating the standard functional business processes.
- Ensuring that the data model is defined and supporting the data migration activity.
- Provides SME to validate and sign-off the functional designs.
- Coordinating interactions between the Solution Design and Development teams to ensure quality transition of functional designs into technical designs and deliverables.
- Provides quality assurance of the overall Solution Design and Realisation phases of the Programme.
- Ensure compliance with best practices and standards.
- Works closely with all other team leads in delivering the overall Programme solution and deliverables.
- Translates complex business requirements into SAP terminology and SAP terminology into business terms.
- Ensures that the programme governance model is maintained and adhered.
- Responsible for overall SAP Solution Manager strategy roadmap, implementation timelines and administration.
- Works closely with the System Integrator to ensure alignment & adaptation of joint delivery methodologies (including SAP Activate).
- Manages the baseline scope for both the global template design and country localisations ensuring that all changes to scope are managed under a robust change control mechanism.
- Works closely with the Business Process Management & Solution organisation to ensure that the overall integrity of the solution is maintained and aligned to Solman.
- Facilitates the Solution Change and Commercial Change Control Boards ensuring that the appropriate cadence is adhered to including preparation, minutes and follow-in actions.
- Works with the relevant release manager and system integrator to ensure that any approved changes to scope can be accommodated within the release.
- Support user acceptance testing and working with partners to resolve defects and business process issues.
- Facilitates the weekly Solution Architecture Forum (SAF), Solution Change Control Board (SCCB), ensuring all decisions are documented, and agreed actions completed.
- Develops and maintains the programme AODocs document management solution including adherence to BAM standards, workflow, and traceability.
- Ensures that all lessons learned are captured, documented and turned into actionable plans.

What do you bring to the role?
- Strong understanding of SAP S4/HANA.
- The Architect will have the ability to design across distributed business solutions whether deployed on-premises or in public or private cloud.
- 10+ Years’ experience in a similar role with at least three pan-European or Global full life cycle implementations.
- Deep understanding of SAP products, technologies and competencies, across multiple ‘end-to-end’ SAP solution landscapes including several full life-cycle rollouts.
- Strong broad SAP functional and technical expertise, with a good understanding of integration touch-points between modules and applications.
- Experience of three or more of functional modules.
- An excellent understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle and good knowledge of delivery methods for SAP (Waterfall, Hybrid Agile, Agile), complex deployment experience, e.g. global template build and roll-out.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Solution (SAP – S/4 HANA) & process orientated.
- Previous experience of setting up and managing a programme governance and portfolio model.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Tenacious and result outcome driven.
- Solution Manager (expert level) essential.
- Experience of SAP Activate Methodology.
