BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting an experienced Internal Communications Manager to help bring the Division’s purpose and goals to life on an 18 month FTC. Communications is a core strategic function that drives awareness, understanding and engagement across our diverse audiences. We use insight, knowledge and analysis of our business and our people to engage them with our work in the most impactful way. We lead the development of our brand and use our expertise to tell inspiring stories to enhance our reputation, build relationships, engage our staff and demonstrate our impact.
Our communications team’s vision is to guide the division, by bringing our brand to life and creating a culture of unity, inspiring confidence, curiosity and a sense of pride. By fostering strong relationships, we’ll highlight the impact our people and projects have on building sustainable communities. The successful candidate will understand the strategic importance of internal communications to build clear understanding of our goals, values and advocacy for our business. We need a self-starting, energetic communicator who’s experienced in supporting the planning and delivery of high-impact internal events that inform, inspire, and connect team members.
Making PossibleSupport the Head of Internal Communications to maintain and deliver communications and engagement plans.
- Help bring our strategy to life through our annual Making Possible Live event.
- Encourage team members to celebrate individuals, teams, projects and initiatives through our Making Possible Awards – playing a key role in the delivery of both the awards process and evening event.
- Support end-to-end production of internal events - from design, to producing run-of-show documents for the AV team, to briefing and managing the event support team.
- Liaise with key stakeholders to build productive relationships, co-ordinating communication activity as well as preparing and issuing communications as required.
- Develop communications to support delivery of key business focuses such as Culture.
- Work with the wider communications team to ensure that key updates are delivered to our internal audience first and through a people-focused lens.
- Be recognised as a specialist in delivery of communication solutions and an all-round project manager with excellent attention to detail.
- Align copy generated by other parts of the business with our tone of voice and key themes.
- Contribute creatively to the development of films and animations to bring our communications to life, including storyboarding and script writing.
- Understand analytics and the importance of capturing and using data to inform our approach.

What do you bring to the role?You’ll be a proven strategic internal communicator who can define, lead and execute internal communications to our colleagues across BAM UK & Ireland Division. A creative writer – someone who can turn their hand to develop creative content for our campaigns and engagement activities. You’ll have experience in supporting the management of internal events and thrive on delivering with impact. Immersed in the detail, you’ll work as part of a team to ensure that plans stay on track to deliver a successful event. Your visual mindset will help you understand how to turn a story on paper into video, audio or animation to increase engagement. You’ll have experience and knowledge of internal communications and campaign delivery across multiple channels, from strategy and planning through to execution and measurement. You’ll enjoy the challenge of hunting down stories and have the tenacity and a determination to turn an idea into the finished product. Experience of working in construction and engineering would be a distinct advantage and a genuine and demonstrable interest in the subject is essential.
Subject/Sector ExpertiseExperience of working in a communications role within a large and complex organisation, transforming technical information into engaging communications. A clear understanding of the purpose of effective communications within a large organisation and the ability to tell a story and take colleagues on a journey. Ability to speak to senior leaders, understand a brief and to turn that into a deliverable communications plan or campaign. Proven ability to support the management of complex events with multiple stakeholders, workstreams, and production elements. Degree or professional qualification in journalism or communications or similar relevant equivalent experience.
