BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a Health and Safety. This role will be covering construction sites across London and surrounding areas.

To provide health, safety and wellbeing (HS&W) support and guidance to Sector/Region leadership, contribute to the delivery of divisional and regional HS&W strategies, support and develop junior team members, and promote industry collaboration and continuous improvement in HS&W performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) advice and support across the Sector/Region, influencing positive outcomes at all levels of the business.
  • Partner with operational and leadership teams to drive a proactive safety culture and ensure HS&W remains a key business priority.
  • Support the delivery of divisional and regional HS&W strategies, helping to embed best practice and continuous improvement across projects and operational activities.
  • Ensure compliance with company, client and legislative HS&W requirements, policies and standards.
  • Monitor workforce competence and support training and development initiatives to maintain high standards of HS&W performance.
  • Support, coach and mentor junior members of the HS&W team, fostering an inclusive environment that promotes growth and development.
  • Champion wellbeing, inclusion and psychological safety, helping to create a healthy and supportive workplace culture.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, audits and assurance activities, identifying improvement opportunities and supporting corrective actions.
  • Monitor and analyse HS&W performance data, identifying trends, sharing insights and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and support incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified, lessons learned are communicated and preventative actions are implemented.
  • Review and monitor supply chain HS&W performance, working collaboratively to drive high standards across all activities.
  • Engage with clients, supply chain partners and industry stakeholders to promote collaboration, share best practice and support industry-wide improvement.
  • Support emergency preparedness and resilience planning, helping to ensure effective response arrangements are in place.
  • Contribute to the production of HS&W reports, communications and performance updates for leadership teams and clients.
  • Champion the sharing of learning, celebrating success and embedding continuous improvement as part of everyday business.

What do you bring to the role?

Qualifications & Experience

  • Grad IOSH, or Tech IOSH demonstrably working towards Grad IOSH status
  • NEBOSH NVQ Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification
  • Experience in H&S, within the Construction industry
  • Ideally experience within the Commercial, Education and healthcare sectors
  • Strong people leadership skills and able to work well with others
  • Experience of providing technical H&S support to complex Construction or Civil Engineering projects
  • Driven to deliver tangible H&S improvements
  • Excellent influencing and communication skills
  • Solid understanding of root cause analysis
  • Appreciation of behavioural science and human factors
  • Commitment to personal learning and development
  • Engages with industry contacts to broaden knowledge and experience
