BAM UK and Ireland are recruiting an Assistant Planner to join our team working on a hybrid basis covering projects across the central belt of Scotland.

The Assistant Planner will co-ordinate and assist in the production of a variety of documents to support the Preconstruction and Construction teams. This role requires an attention to detail and an ability to work under pressure and often to demanding deadlines. As an Assistant Planner, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively to become an integral member of the preconstruction team.
  • Becoming involved with tender, pre-construction and on site construction opportunities as they arise.
  • Prepare and assist with the preparation of design, procurement and construction programmes using Powerproject software or similar.
  • Through a combination of industry output and supply chain liaison develop and present tender programmes for review.
  • Development of project strategies and preparation of logistics plans and methodologies, whilst considering and scheduling site setups and major plant requirements. Reporting findings to internal and external teams, formulating and recommending solutions.
  • Prepare and assist with the production of written reports and method statements for internal and external submissions.
  • Working with site teams in the production of short term programmes as to suit project requirements, as well as progress control and reporting functions.

Your team will work flexibly from office (Glasgow) / home or site as required.

What do you bring to the role?

  • Demonstrable experience in contract and tender planning in a similar role.
  • Proven technical knowledge and experience gained from working in the construction industry.
  • A relevant qualification, or working towards a relevant qualification, at degree level or equivalent experience is desirable.
  • Good experience in using Asta Powerproject, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word.
  • Some experience or knowledge of use of BIM, Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work within a team environment or as an individual.
