Role Summary: We are appointing an experienced Wigs & Make‑Up Technician to support the Royal Ballet and Opera for a fixed‑term contract ending 31 August 2027. The role involves wig making and styling; hair cutting and styling; and make‑up and special effects for all theatrical, media and television productions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high‑quality wig and make‑up production.
- Maintain and prepare wigs and facial prosthetics.
- Support live performances and rehearsals.
- Collaborate closely with artists and production staff to deliver creative design.
Ideal Candidate:
- A proven track record in performance‑related wig and make‑up work for major companies.
- Strong background in wig and make‑up preparation techniques, including making wigs and facial prosthetics.
- Hands‑on experience with textured hair, e.g. locks and braiding.
- Ability to realise make‑up looks from design, awareness of hair types and latest styling techniques.
- Experience running performances and providing excellent customer care in a professional theatre environment.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation relevant to theatre and ability to contribute to risk assessments.
